Nauriz Aitmuratov. Regeneration Art Gallery Tashkent

Nauryz Aitmuratov comes from a family of artists. His father was a famous painter. After graduating from the Nukus State College of Arts and Culture, Nauryz went on to study at the architecture department of the Berdakh State University in Nukus.

Together with his friends in this group, Nauryz ventured beyond what he knew and entered the unknown territory of questing. Although there is a certain closeness with some characters from his friends' paintings, overall his work displays its own individual features, expressed particularly in his use of color and in the deconstruction of flat figures, which are like disintegrating human flesh…

While the characters in Nauryz’s works are generally not so complex, they nevertheless demand an individual interpretation, as do those of his young colleagues. Two paintings entitled “Couple” (2022, 2023) are executed en-ergetically, with strikingly naive rudeness, sharpness and expressiveness of color. Aitmuratov’s portraits such as

“A Friend’s Dreams” (2018) are also particularly mem-orable. The latter is a somewhat ironic representation of a friend against the backdrop of official buildings with which this young man associates his future. Or the spontaneously and energetically painted picture “Lonely”

(2023), as well as the portrait of a girl called “Untitled”

(2023) — a vulgarly painted blonde sitting with a flowering houseplant in her hands. The artist depicts this young woman, his contemporary, with a mix of sympathy and unabashed irony
